Child & Adolescent Depression Clinic

Michael Garron Hospital's (MGH) child and adolescent depression clinic provides assessment and short-term, evidence-based treatment for youth up to age 17 with depression.

Depression is one of the most common mental health conditions affecting teens.

Treatment in our clinic begins with a psychiatric consultation to confirm the diagnosis and discuss treatment options. These can include educational sessions for youth and parents, short-term psychotherapy, medications, and a ‘healthy habits’ program that addresses sleep, diet, exercise and related issues.

Our team includes an outpatient nurse and a child and adolescent psychiatrist. We also work collaboratively with our community partners, who can provide ongoing psychotherapy.

Referral to the depression clinic is made at the time of the initial outpatient psychiatric consultation, which can be accessed through a referral by a primary care physician.
