The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Michael Garron Hospital is designed to meet the needs of critically ill patients who require continuous monitoring and support. We provide evidence-based specialized care to patients through state-of-the-art monitoring systems, critical care technology, and professional expertise. MGH’s ICU is networked with Critical Care Services of Ontario (CCSO) and is up-to-date on best practices in critical care.
Patients in the ICU are cared for by a team of clinicians who specialize in Critical Care. There is a team of ICU physicians (intensivists) who rotate through the unit every few days. The intensivist is the doctor who oversees the care of all patients in the ICU. Other members of the team included critical care trained nurses, registered respiratory therapists, dietitian, physiotherapist, pharmacist, social worker, spiritual care, bioethicist, ward clerk, and speech language pathologists.
