Online booking for COVID-19 testing

If there are no appointments available for MGH's COVID-19 Assessment Centre and the Child and Youth Emergency Zone, you may visit one of our COVID-19 Outreach Centres. Our COVID-19 Outreach Centres offer walk-in and child-friendly testing, assessments, vaccinations and other supports. Children who visit our COVID-19 Outreach Centres receive an oral-nasal test. The online booking portals cannot be used to book appointments at any of our COVID-19 Outreach Centres.

Michael Garron Hospital’s (MGH) COVID-19 Assessment Centre has two online appointment booking portals for people experiencing COVID-19 symptoms:

  • Portal for children (ages four months to 17 years) and families (Book now)
    • Appointments are available daily at MGH's Child and Youth Emergency Zone between 11:30 a.m. and 10:30 p.m.
    • The Child and Youth Emergency Zone offers a set number of appointments per day. The portals will show all available appointments within a 48-hour period. If no appointments are available, no slots will be shown. Due to large testing volumes, appointment times are approximate and wait times may vary.
    • The Child and Youth Emergency Zone is separate from the COVID-19 Assessment Centre. Appointments take place at 825 Coxwell Avenue (entrance is off of Mortimer Avenue to the immediate right of the Emergency Department entrance).
    • The Child and Youth Emergency Zone offers a family-friendly space for COVID-19 testing, as well as paediatric Emergency Department assessments, for children and families.
    • Individuals who book an appointment through this portal may bring up to four family members to be tested at the same time. (Family members do not need to be registered online individually.)
    • Children who visit MGH's Child and Youth Emergency Zone receive an oral-nasal test. The oral-nasal test involves rubbing the inside of the mouth and the front of the nose with a swab for less than five seconds. It is less invasive than the nasopharyngeal (NP) swab that is commonly used for COVID-19 tests. This helps increase the likelihood that children and youth will have pleasant testing experiences. The oral-nasal test is a laboratory-validated polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test, not a rapid antigen test. This means a second test is not needed to confirm a positive result.
    • Children (ages four months to 17 years) and families who need an appointment may book through the all-ages portal (see below) if the child portal is fully booked. Children under four months of age experiencing symptoms should be taken to an Emergency Department to be tested.
    • Test results should be available online within 24 to 72 hours.
  • Portal for all ages above four months (Book now)
    • Appointments are available daily at MGH's COVID-19 Assessment Centre between 8 a.m. and 7:30 p.m.
    • The COVID-19 Assessment Centre offers a set number of appointments per day. The portals will show all available appointments within a 48-hour period. If no appointments are available, no slots will be shown. Due to large testing volumes, appointment times are approximate and wait times may vary.
    • Appointments take place at MGH's COVID-19 Assessment Centre located at 825 Coxwell Avenue (entrance is off of Mortimer Avenue, west of the Emergency Department).
    • Children who visit MGH's COVID-19 Assessment Centre receive an oral-nasal test.
    • Children (ages four months to 17 years) and families requiring an appointment may book through the all-ages portal if the child portal is fully booked. Children under four months of age experiencing symptoms should be taken to an Emergency Department to be tested.
    • Our COVID-19 Assessment Centre also accepts walk-ins. However, appointments are prioritized. We encourage you to book an appointment in advance whenever possible. Wait times for walk-ins may vary depending on volumes.
    • Test results should be available online within 24 to 72 hours.

New appointment slots for both portals open at 10 p.m. daily. A health card is not required to book an appointment.

Any persons who are experiencing any of the following symptoms should not come to the MGH COVID-19 Assessment Centre or Child and Youth Emergency Zone. They should instead proceed immediately to their nearest Emergency Department.

  • Difficulty breathing
  • New disorientation, confusion, or decrease in level of consciousness
  • Fever lasting over four days
  • Chest pain
  • Continuous vomiting and/or dehydration

If you need to cancel an appointment that was booked online using a Health Myself account, please log into your account to cancel it or email your cancellation request to @email. If you are unable to cancel online or over email, you may call the booking line at 416-469-6858. Phones are answered daily between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
